What God Did...

My childhood dreams were ambitious: mail carrier, astronaut, DJ, and artist. But as I grew up and faced life's challenges, I feared my creative and imaginative talents had no place in a serious career.  

I fell into the trap of believing that the world held no place for artistic minds like my own. It left no room for the paintings, drawings, and sculptures scattered about my childhood bedroom.

This perspective changed during my sophomore year of college when I was offered a position as an event and sports photographer for Louisiana Christian University. And though I lacked experience and confidence, the chance was the Lord leading me to His destination for my life.

The job became a turning point. The camera served as the first step towards my career as a creative. I was being called back to my roots. Through Christ's love and nurturing nature, I was gifted creativity and was given a space to serve using it.

Photography became less about how an image looked and more about the story it told. Photography became about how I could serve the kingdom and others. Once I realized I was more than a photographer, but also a storyteller,  servant, and ambassador for Christ, the world and its opportunities grew.
